If you have roof access hatches, our goal is to reduce risk for your workers and liability for you, while increasing the security of your facility.

The Problem We Are Solving

Ladders are dangerous. Climbing up a ladder with equipment, unlocking a roof hatch while holding onto a ladder, and climbing back down with equipment is even more dangerous. As such, access to and ingress/egress through roof hatches present real problems. According to OSHA (the Occupational Safety and Health Administration), falls to a lower level pose a significant risk to workers, often resulting in serious injury or even death. In fact, from 2011 to 2012, falls were not only the second leading cause of workplace injury, but also the “most severe” of all work-related injuries. Our patented solution is designed to reduce the risk of falls to a lower level by allowing workers to operate a roof hatch’s locking and opening/closing mechanisms while standing at floor level—no more clinging to a ladder rung while trying to unlock and open or close a roof hatch.

Our Products

The BSP hatch operator is designed to make roof access quicker, easier, safer, and more secure; when installed and used as directed, it can increase productivity while reducing risk.

  • Floor-level operating mechanism that allows users to unlock and open a standard manufactured roof access hatch before climbing the ladder

  • Hatch lock feature that prevents the hatch from closing while workers are on the roof

  • Safety handle to make getting out of and back into the hatch easier

  • Bolt-on system that easily attaches to most OSHA standard fixed ladders

$5.85 B

According to the Liberty Mutual Workplace Injury Report, businesses in the United States lose more than $5.85 billion due to injury in falls to a lower level.

21 Days

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that, in 2011, falls to a lower level resulted in a median of 21 days away from work.

48,040

In 2019 48,040 workers were injured in falls to a lower level, according to the National Safety Council. There were 711 deaths.

Protect Your Workers

When installed properly, the BSP Hatch Operator can reduce risk. Because it is locked from the floor, it also allows for increased security; never send a worker up a ladder just to check on a padlock.
